Who is responsible

This website is run by Marcel Lamothe, Raymond, New Hampshire, USA. For any question about your data, email me at marcel@marcel-writes.com.

What I collect, and why

Mailing list. This site no longer has a sign-up form, but if you joined my mailing list in the past, I keep your email address so I can tell you about new books. The list is run by MailerLite (MailerLite UAB, Lithuania), which also records when and from which IP address you signed up, and whether you open or click my emails. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email, and I will stop emailing you. Your data stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. See MailerLite’s privacy policy.

Hosting. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you visit, GitHub receives your IP address and basic technical information (such as browser type) in order to deliver the page and keep the service secure. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See GitHub’s privacy statement.

Visitor statistics. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Fonts. The fonts on this site are served from this site itself. No font requests go to Google or any other third party.

Transfers outside the EU

GitHub and Cloudflare are based in the United States. Both take part in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognizes as providing adequate protection.

Links to other sites

Links to Books2Read, Amazon and fellow authors take you to sites I don’t control. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of your data, or ask me to correct, delete or restrict it, or to transfer it to you. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw your consent at any time without affecting what happened before. Just email me. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.
